Prerequisites

Changing Color Palette [easy]

Prereqs: JPEXS

  1. Navigate to: /sprites/DefineSprite (5215)
  2. Expand the folder and frame 1. Find PlaceObjectX (XXXX)
  3. Navigate to: /shapes/DefineShape(XXXX) or click the number under "Needed Characters"
  4. Right-click DefineShape and choose Replace. Upload a color palette PNG (e.g., from Google Images)

Changing Character's Head Color [medium]

Prereqs: JPEXS, Text Editor for SVG

  1. Navigate to /sprites/DefineSprite (974) or (1007) in version 588
  2. Expand frame 1 and find PlaceObject2 (7914)
  3. Go to /shapes/DefineShapeX (7914)
  4. Right-click → Export selection → Save as SVG
  5. Open SVG in a text editor. Find and replace HEX values (e.g., #000000#0066CC)
  6. Return to DefineShape (7914) → Right-click → Replace → Upload modified SVG
  7. (Optional) Repeat for sprite 301

I made mine Spongebob. This requires a custom SVG.

Customizing the Crosshair

Challenge: Customize your crosshair. Try it on your own first!

  1. Find the crosshair sprite in JPEXS and double-click it. Crosshair DefineSprite
  2. Expand DefineSprite and frame 1. Find PlaceObject2. PlaceObject2 Frame
  3. Click PlaceObject2 and then the number listed under "Needed Characters". Needed Characters Navigation
  4. You can now either:
    • Replace the entire crosshair with a new image
    • Change its colors manually
    DefineShapes list
  5. Edit Color: Click Edit on the bottom, to the right of Transform. Edit Fill Styles
  6. Expand shapes → fillStyles. Editing Colors Color Changed Example
  7. Keep expanding until you see RGB values. Click the RGB palette, change the colors, then click Save.
  8. This is an example using the XGen logo — black was replaced with green and blue with red after clicking Save. XGen Logo Modified Replace with PNG option
  9. Alternative: Replace with PNG
    After clicking the Needed Characters number, right-click the folder for DefineShape and choose Replace. Upload replacement PNG
  10. Upload a PNG wherever you saved it.
